This is a replacement for my old Fellowes Shredmate–a several years old workhorse on its last leg after shredding a monster stack of prior tax returns. This new Fellowes desktop shredder looks like the same model, except that it is smoother and quieter (Hmmm, maybe I should have bought and used the Fellowes oil lubricant on the old one). Also, the new one has a clear plastic bin instead of the prior metal bin with open grating that needed a plastic bag liner (although I’m going to save the old bin as a back-up since it fits this newer model.)

This shredder doesn’t take up much space. You can keep it hidden from view and ready for use on a bookcase shelf.

The advertisement doesn’t mention it, but the shredder can be used on credit cards, too.

Although the product mentions it can accept stapled paper, I wouldn’t chance a little piece of staple wire getting stuck within the shredding mechanism. It’s been easy enough to tear off the paper around the staple to discard it before inserting the paper in the shredder. Still, when a staple does slip by, at least I know that the product is supposed to handle it.

I only wish this product could shred CDs…but for the price, I find it acceptable without this feature.

BTW, I took advantage of Amazon’s Free Shipping option, and to my surprise, this shredder arrived one day after it was shipped = )

Overall, this shredder is a great value for the price. I plan to buy the lubricant to make this one last even longer.
