CyberPower High-Speed 7-Port USB Hub CustomerReview
I’ve owned quite a few USB hubs and this one is, by far, the easiest to use I’ve had yet. Plug it in to the computer and hook up the AC adapter…and you’re up and running. That’s it, couldn’t have been easier to install. It’s also fast, one thing that used to drag my other hubs down was moving stuff from one external drive to another if they were both on the same hub. I’m not sure if this thing has some built-in feature for doing that in a cleaner way, but it is a lot faster than anything I’d seen before.
Pros:
- Fool-proof setup.
- Fast transfers, even from/to two things on the hub.
- Extra port on the front for easy access to USB flash drives.
- Durability. Working non-stop for over 16 months, not a single problem.
Cons:
- The cables plug into both sides of the hub, so even with the hardest bending of the cable you’d risk to route the wires, the width footprint of the hub goes from ~2 inches empty to OVER SIX INCHES! Redesigning this so the cables plug in on the back, or even angle the ports back at 45°, would go a long way toward reducing footprint.
- The lights never go off. They are on even if nothing is plugged into a port! I prefer the lights to be tied to data transfer, but at least they should only be on when something is attached to a port, right?
Even with the drawbacks, suffice it to say this has been in constant use on my desk for well over a year, and it’s not going away anytime soon. I would recommend this hub to anyone.
