I bought 2 sets for my Onkyo front and surround speakers, which are 10″ tall. I know those are outside the recommended speaker dimensions but I figured for this price I would give it a shot and see for myself.

1) ASSEMBLY
The assembly of the stands was fairly easy, and after I had figured out the first one the other three went pretty quickly; fishing the wire up the stand is the most tedious part as the top opening is fairly small if you’ve completely assembled the stand and mount prior to feeding the wires.

2) SPEAKER COMPATIBILITY AND MOUNTING OPTIONS
As far as speaker dimensions and compatibility, I mentioned my Onkyo speakers were 10″ tall. Given the position of the mounting hole in the speakers, this did not allow me to use the rear bolt/screw mounting option. If you want to use the rear mount bolts for holes in the back of your speakers, the holes your speakers can be no higher than 3.75-4″ (and 4″ is probably pushing it) from the speaker base (Mine were 5.25″ D’OH!).

If you can not use the rear bolt mount option, you have two other options: 1) Screw the base plate directly into the bottom of your speaker with 4 small screws (which were included). OR 2) Use double sided-tape (Included) to affix the speakers to the stands. I elected to use the double-sided tape since it was minimally invasive and less permanent should I later decide that I do not like the way the stands work. It’s only been a couple weeks but this option has held up well so far.

If you use the double-sided tape and still have the rear bracket installed, be sure the bracket is slid out as far back as possible, or it will push against the rear of the speaker and put pressure on it to tilt forward, pulling the bottom of the speaker up from the tape. This is likely less of an issue if your speakers are only 4-5″ tall.

3) DURABILITY AND APPEARANCE
The stands look very nice for the price, and are obviously better than having your speakers sit on various pieces of furniture as I previously had. They are built solidly, the bases are a good weight, and the stands are not likely to topple over unless you have really heavy speakers mounted at the maximum height and then start break dancing in your living room or something.

The height is adjustable, but be aware that you can not extend it to the full height or the stand gets extremely wobbly and unstable (this may in part be due to my slightly larger than recommended speakers, though they did not exceed the weight recommendations). I would recommend sticking with 2-3″ below the maximum height adjustment so as not to sacrifice stability.

OVERALL
Overall I am very pleased with these stands. The price can’t be beat, and I fully expected the mounting options may not have been ideal for me given the size of my speakers, but the kit comes with enough hardware to accommodate multiple mounting options and speaker sizes.
